1. Preparation of natural nails (manicure)
- File nails : File the nails into the desired shape (round, oval, square) with a fine nail file. Make sure to always file in one direction to avoid splitting the nails.
- Cuticle care : Soak cuticles in warm water, apply some cuticle oil and gently push cuticles back with a cuticle pusher. Carefully trim off excess skin if necessary.
2. Nail cleaning
- Removing residue : Use a nail cleaner or degreasing nail polish remover (without acetone) to remove oil and dirt from the nails. This is important for optimal adhesion of the nail polish.
3. Apply base coat
- Function : The base coat protects the natural nails from discoloration and provides a smooth surface on which the colored varnish adheres better.
- Application : Apply a thin layer of base coat to all nails and let it dry thoroughly (approx. 2-3 minutes).
4. Apply nail polish
- First coat : Apply the color polish in a thin layer. Start in the middle of the nail and work your way out to the sides. Allow the first coat to dry completely.
- Second coat : Apply a second coat of varnish to intensify the color and ensure an even result. Again, allow to dry thoroughly.
5. Apply top coat
- Function : The top coat seals the color, adds shine and increases durability. It protects the nail polish from scratches and chipping.
- Application : Apply a layer of top coat over the colored nail polish and make sure to seal the nail tips well. This will also protect the polish from chipping.
6. Cuticle care
- Aftercare : Once the nail polish is completely dry, apply cuticle oil to the cuticles to nourish and keep them supple. Massage the oil in gently to promote circulation.
7. Hand care
- Moisturizing : Finally, apply a rich hand cream to nourish your hands and avoid dry skin. Massage the cream in well to keep the skin supple and to further strengthen the nails.
Additional tips:
- Drying time : Make sure to let the varnish dry thoroughly between coats to avoid marks and smudging.
- Refresh nail polish : Apply an additional coat of top coat after a few days to maintain shine and extend wear.
- Avoid water contact : Try to minimize contact with water in the first few hours after painting to maximize durability.
With this careful preparation and care, the nail polish will adhere optimally and last longer.
